The Department of Botany was established in the year 1988 when the college went into an expansion mode and a biological science section came into being.The Department of Botany aims to transmit knowledge aboutbasic plant biologyand to encourage students to keep abreast of as many developments as possible in Plant Sciences.The department has awell-qualified and dedicated faculty who are committed to nurturing an enriching learning environment for overall grooming of our students.The Departmental laboratoryis well equipped with instruments and plant specimens to facilitate practical learning of the subject and creating a connection with the plants they study. Department also regularly organises field trips and botanical excursions that help students to study plants in their natural habitat.Department of Botany at Vidyasagar Metropolitan Collegeis dedicated in making efforts to bring the best to our students and to follow the altruistic path shown by Pandit Iswarchandra Vidyasagar, the founder of the College.
