Vidyasagar Metropolitan College believes in the power of sports to foster teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. Sports committee of the college is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to excel both on and off the field and in promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and leadership skills.

Sports Facility Offered:
Vidyasagar Metropolitan College offers both indoor and outdoor sports facilities to cater to the diverse interests of its students.

Indoor Games:
The college provides state-of-the-art facilities for sports such as Carrom, Chess, table tennis, ensuring that students have ample opportunities to engage in recreational and competitive play regardless of the weather.

Outdoor Games:
Vidyasagar Metropolitan College offers facilities for sports such as football, cricket, volleyball, athletics, and badmintonto help students hone their skills. These outdoor facilities not only encourage physical activity but also nurture a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among students as they participate in various sports activities and tournaments.

Activities:

• National Sports Day celebration on 29th August:
  National Sports Day is celebrated every year in India on the 29th August. The day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian legendary hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand. This day is also a timely reminder for the necessity of sports activities in human life. The college typically celebrates this day by hosting a lecture delivered by a prominent sports personality, accompanied by various sports activities.
• Annual Sports Day:
  The college annual sports day during the winter months (tentatively during month of December) featuring a range of events such as running competitions, table tennis, football, cricket, volleyball, and more.
• Other Activities:
  In addition to the two major events, the college participates in several tournaments throughout the year. These include Inter College Tournaments organized by Calcutta University, typically held in September, the Reliance Cup Football tournament in October, and the Inter-district State level football tournament in January, among others.

Success Stories:
Among several achievements, few selective events are given here,

• North Kolkata District Football Champion in the year 2018-19.
• Qualified for State Football Championship and was lost at the quarterfinal in 2019-20.
• Champion at COPA NATIONALE: a inter college tournament organized by Calcutta National Medical College 2022.
• Sidhartha Basak (Student) secured 2nd position in 200, mtr and 100 mtr free style and 3rd in 50mtr free style Swimming Competition organised by Calcutta University for 2021-2022.
• Sourodip Das (Student) secured 3rd position in 400 mt race in Inter College Distric Sports and Games Championship 2022-23 by Govt of WB.
• Sahipak Mahato (student) achieved gold medal at Senior Ganda and Tanding event in 4th state pencak silat championship 2023.
